Good: Coffee Club at Paragon

I entered this cafe about a week before Christmas to have some coffee and chill with my ‘trophies’ from Borders.  I walked past Coffee Club at Paragon a couple times after it moved to this new location and didn’t remember liking the new place at all. Lesser seats and no more lounging on the corner seats to watch people walk by.

When I entered into the store, there were about 2 tables of customers and I was attended to immediately. After a server took my orders, I was settling down with my book when Alliezaa, the store manager (I presume from the different uniform) came with my drink and asked if I would like to try their Christmas log cake. I decided on the Banana Chocolate log cake only to discover that it was sold out. Hence I decided not to order the other flavor. What surprised me was how Alliezaa politely said that if I would like the cake, she could get one of her staff to go to another outlet to bring some stocks in. Of course, I didn’t want a staff to go such great lengths and I wanted to save some calories for the dinner later.

However, about 15 mins later, Alliezaa told me that the cake is here and asked if I would like to have a slice. I was touched by the gesture (a) she remembered what I would want to order, (b) she didn’t seem pushy. Well, I ordered the cake in the end and enjoyed it totally. Perhaps it wasn’t just the cake that was delicious, it’s the excellent service put forward by Alliezaa that made me enjoy my meal there.

Alliezaa was thoughtful to offer getting another staff to get the cake for me. Although she would have done so without my order anyway but the fact that she asked and even remembered to ask me if I would like a slice when the cakes arrived is that extra step that mattered. I believe there are other service staff who would just simply tell you that the cake is out of stock and if you would prefer another flavor. Not for Alliezaa.

Thank you Alliezaa. I enjoyed that short coffee break and I’ll be back at Coffee Club @ Paragon for more such visits!
