Bobbi Brown @ Raffles City Robinsons
I figured that I would need to change some of my cosmetics since they are reaching the end of their shelf life and headed for Raffles City’s Robinsons departmental store last week to start my search. I ended up purchasing a liquid foundation from Bobbi Brown. Alas! I developed reactions to the foundation and went back to the counter to do an exchange for other products.
My amazement with Dyn’s excellent level of service starts here. (Dyn is a make-up artist at Bobbi Brown). After a quick brief to her on what seems to irritate my skin, she patiently went through her range of foundations and tinted moisturisers with me and started to recommend me which one could be best for me to try on.
Dyn even offered to apply a similar shade of tinted moisturiser and another line of foundation on the both sides of my face. In the meantime, I was to hold on my exchange just so that I could test and pick the right product. She also took the initiative to ask me what other products I would like to try on as I told her about raves of some of the products.
Before she started, Dyn politely informed me that her brushes were just washed and I even saw her cleaning out the cream blusher pot just so that the top layer wouldn’t be used on my sensitive skin. This may be a small act but it just shows how considerate and thoughtful she was. As she was doing her magic on me, she also explained how best I should apply the respective cosmetics on and how to achieve different looks with different cosmetics. (again, don’t ask me. This is too confusing for me too. And so, I left the counter with Dyn’s magic on me. By the way, I didn’t look funny with two different make-up on each side of my face. Thanks to Dyn.
Part II of the service encounter came when I decided that non of Bobbi Brown’s foundation seemed to work for me. When I met Dyn, she had just returned from her lunch break and she said she’ll attend to me after she popped a mint, just so I wouldn’t smell her lunch. I hardly see any service staff so thoughtful and that reminded me of people who served me with that lingering onion smell in their mouth. Horrid.
Of course, Dyn’s service this time was tip-top too as she helped me with the selection of a concealer vs a corrector and not forgetting picking the right shade. Throughout that 30minutes when I was there, Dyn was pleasant, courteous and very helpful. Unlike some of the disgruntled staff of other cosmetic brands’ counters who seemed to think that answering questions from customers is a huge chore.
Although I am not a regular make-up user, I am very sure that I will definitely revisit Dyn for a re-purchase of other products. This is because her service is truly wonderful and she deserves the patronage. This is what I hope service staff and providers should realise, that good service rendered goes a long way which is extremely important in hard times like this as consumers will tend to tighten their purse strings so you have to work harder to make consumers hand your their money willingly. This, I believe, can be achieved with good service.
Of course, good service is often subjective but I am sure that we all know how bad service is like. If you are a customer faced with average products but excellent service and good products but mediocre service, which would you pick?
